Finalists for Thailand medical tourism blog contest
Looks like they have selected the 12 finalists for the Thailand medical tourism blogging contest. The list is up at medblogcontest.com. Looking it over it seems like there are a lot of impressive qualifications in there, including published travel writers, talk show hosts and writers with some medical tourism background. I haven’t checked out their blogs yet but will be following them as the contest proceeds.
The problem with this sort of thing is that it is all promotion. You won’t see anything critical, probably not even reasonably objective, because they all want to win the prize and to please the judges they have to promote medical tourism in Thailand. At least that is what I expect. Once you participate in something like thisĀ you clearly label yourself as a promoter and marketer. That’s where the money is but that’s not where someone should go for advice and objective reviews.
So I will be following them to see if any useful information is turned up and also look for examples of where I can compare my personal experiences with medical tourism in Thailand. It’s not so much “tourism” for me anymore since I live here but I am using some of the same facilities and doctors so it amounts to the same thing, although since I do speak Thai I have a wider range of options with which I feel comfortable and I also know more of what is going on than someone who can’t speak Thai.
