Market Watch tips for saving on dental costs
A column at the Market Watch website called Marshall Loeb’s Daily Money Tip had an article today titled “How To Save Money on the Cost of Dental Treatment“. He starts with the statement that “A trip to the dentist is never fun, but the cost of dental treatment can make it even worse. Routine treatment can cost hundreds of dollars, while other procedures such as root canals can run in the thousands. About 45% of Americans lack dental insurance, reports the National Association of Dental Plans. And even if you have dental insurance, benefit caps, deductibles, and co-pays may still hit your wallet hard.” And then he goes on to give some tips to save money like:
- Enroll in a dental discount plan
- Check to see if your expenses are deductible
- Use your employer’s medical flexible spending account
- Try treatment at dental schools
It should be obvious from my previous post, the $3 visit to the dentist, that his tip list is missing the best tip of all, take a flight to Thailand and get top quality work done at a tenth the price, then enjoy a nice vacation, and return home with money in your pocket.
