TAT kicks off a medical tourism blogging contest
This is interesting. The Tourism Authority of Thailand is having a medical tourism blogging contest. Details are at medblogcontest.com. They say there is more than $18,000 in cash and prizes to be awarded (I assume USD, it doesn’t say). The purpose is, of course, to promote medical tourism in Thailand.
A feature of the contest that makes it particularly interesting is that 12 finalists will be chosen to participate in an all-inclusive seven-day Medical Tourism Familiarization Trip in Thailand, which will take place from November 20-26, 2010. During the “fam” trip the 12 bloggers are to post about their experiences with stories, photos and videos and share it all using social media.
According to the judging criteria, to be selected as one of the 12 finalists you must demonstrate:
- Blogging experience and accomplishments (based on your submitted blog URL which will be verified by the Judging Committee)
- Knowledge about Medical, Tourism or/and Thailand
- Innovative ideas for promoting a Medical tourism blog
- Enthusiasm
The criteria for selecting the winner will be based on :
- Quality of theĀ content
- In-depth knowledge
- Persuasion
- Clarity and Readability
- Accuracy
Do you think I would have a chance? Not likely since this blog is more about accuracy and calling ‘em out when they don’t perform rather than “enthusiasm” and “persuasion”, although the criteria does include “accuracy” and the statements on their website do say that they want bloggers who can persuade people to learn more about Thailand medical tourism. So perhaps it is not entirely a big sales pitch. For sure I am going to keep a close watch on it and see how it develops.
